womanreadingbookOur dreams as young people are usually filled with colorful goals. At the time, we might not know much of the world, but we certainly want a huge part of it. We may not manifest how to get to the top, but we know at that age we certainly want to be there.

Often times, our goals from our late teens and early twenties go unfulfilled, due to unforeseen circumstances, a change in interests, or overall life experiences.  These goals of yesteryear haunt us into our adulthood and become the regrets of our present.

Regret breeds a downward spiral in our ego and we soon question why we were not skilled enough to achieve said goals in the first place.

1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

We have to accept that our paths are not always clear to seek out.

How can the person in their late teens or early twenties possibly be held responsible for the happiness of said person for the rest of their life? Often, when ones “PLAN A” does not work out exactly as planned, we put on the blinders and often times miss “PLAN B” being presented to us. PLAN B is hardly as clear-cut as PLAN A, but the journey is certainly more exciting and rich then knowing exactly what we want at a young age and the exact way in which to achieve our goals.

We cannot hold ourselves accountable for some goals and aspirations we have had so young. As an example, you may not have traveled the world as once desired by the starry-eyed teenager, but when you do travel as an adult, you appreciate it so much and enjoy every rich life lesson it offers. The man who did not go to university as he once wanted ended up being a street smart, savvy entrepreneur, having the unique experience of business responsibility.

Of course, we should do everything to achieve our goals, but we should constantly update what our goals are. Are they goals that will enrich our lives and those around us? We must always re-evaluate what we want and most importantly, MANIFEST why we want it.
