The Power and Meaning of 12

December 12, 2012

For a number of reasons today, December 12, 2012 reignited focus on the power and significance of this special date (a triple repeating number), as well as the number 12, from a numerology perspective.

If nothing else, 12-12-2012 is the last triple repeat of this century. In fact, it’s the last repeating date for 89 years (until 01/01/2101). And to experience triple 12 again? You’ll either have to live another lifetime (hey, it could happen) or you’ll have to stick around until December, 12, 2112 (wow that’s a lot of energy right there … and a LOT of years).

Today’s date has also refocused the attention on the “end” of the Ancient Mayan calendar, which is reported to end on December 21, 2012.

Now, this might get a “little new agey, airy, fairy” for some not familiar with these concepts, but hear me out. I too am unpacking what all of this might mean from a spiritual and metaphysical (or sixth sensory perception) perspective. But I am open to the possibility that certain numbers carry with them a certain energy. And all of this talk of “12” has piqued my curiosity because the number “12” seems so firmly at the helm of much of our existence; the way we understand and keep time in hours (2 sets of 12) and months (12), the planetary movements and the 12 disciples for example.

Most respected numerology experts explain 12/12/12 this way:

12/12/12 — is one of “energetic significance,” according to numerologist Stephanie Sterling. She says that when all the numbers in the date are added up one by one — 1 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 0 + 1 + 2 — they equal 11 [a master number], which is a very powerful number. “This is a game-changing day. It’s a day of intuition and peace, like we are walking through a door of peace,” she told HuffPost. As a result, she predicts that an end to the type of divisiveness that was seen during the last campaign and a new era of “problem-solving.” Source: HuffingtonPost.com

Above all else, 12/12 signals to me that it’s really time to settle down, settle in,  reassess, recharge, and refine so I am in the right place and space physically, mentally, emotionally and, of course, spiritually to bring in and ring in a new day, a new year and a new [read: more spiritually enlightened and attuned] me.

There are 20 days left in 2012. I’m not sure what numerologists says about this but I know that 20 days is more than enough time to reflect on where I was 345 days ago for the last New Year’s Day, to give thanks to what I’ve released, learned, achieved and received. And to PREPARE for a new level of awareness and abundance tomorrow, next year … and it begins in this moment, right now, today.

So tonight, spend some time in meditation to get still and quiet about who you are authentically and what you require and desire and then spend time in prayer connecting with God to make your concerns and requests known. Focus on what you want not what you don’t want. Where you want to be. What you want to have. Who you want to be with. What you want to do.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8

Let me know the ways you’re preparing in these final 20 days to be the fullest most authentic you you can be! How are you preparing by the spirit?
