It’s The Little Things

children on the beachWhat truly brings us joy? Are we looking for big things and big events in our life to make us feel fulfilled? If we are lucky enough to afford big things or have big events happen and do they really give us the fill in our life that we previously felt we once lacked? Perhaps we are searching to full an unattainable void. We may just want to look at the little things that bring us joy, rather than anxiously awaiting the big answer to our problems.

A child’s smile, a family gathering or a simple compliment from a friend are things we quickly acknowledge but do we take the time to cherish it? If we really enjoyed the youth and innocence of that child’s smile, basking in the joy and laughter in a family gathering or really taking the compliment from a friend to heart, we would find that void being filled quickly.

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. Robert Brault

Ironically, the most subtle signs from life that we receive are the ones that often “pack the most punch”. We must look inward to find what little moments are best to hang on to, receive our joy from and remember fondly, then constantly awaiting a big change that could quite possibly not come at the time we expect it.

  1. Grace,

Thank you for this. I have found myself meditating on this. When I look back & at the everyday, I can see GOD show up so much in the “little things” (which could be big things at that moment), I KNOW I can trust HIM to show up in the “big things” of life.

Thank you for making it plain.
