woman praying The Bible is filled with numerous examples of Jesus reminding people of their power to heal themselves:

Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment.” Matthew 9:20-22 (NIV)

“Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road. Mark 10:46-54 (NIV)

The common theme seems to be that each person had the courage to express their needs and did so with faith that they could in fact be healed. And Jesus stood in the gap, providing the connection between the spiritual realm of potential and the earthy realm of manifestation.

At one level, healing involves a restoration of the mind-body-spirit connection so that all are functioning in concert for our ultimate wholeness and well-being. At another level, spiritual healing involves an authentic, ever-present connection to Source, to the Creator … to God. It is the point when we transcend our limited understanding and plug into the power of God for our best lives and ultimate good. When we tap into our divine power we are transformed, we are HEALED.

Many spiritual traditions support this notion of possessing the power to heal and we intend to explore many traditions and facets of spiritual healing this month. But one thing is clear: We all have the power to heal ourselves; a great spiritual gift but also a great responsibility.

The power that moves us into the thoughts and actions that create our realities is faith. Jesus taught the power in an infinitesimal amount of faith: the size of a mustard seed! And from a metaphysical perspective, although the amount of faith is within our power, the absence of faith is impossible.

“Faithlessness is impossible, because faith is an aspect of consciousness. We have faith in the power of love, or faith in the power of fear.” Marianne Williamson.

Today take five minutes in the morning and evening to reflect on areas in your life in need of healing. And not just physical healing of your aches, pains, conditions and illnesses, but also the areas of fear, ways of limited thinking, chronic patterns, dysfunction and unforgiveness should be included too. Once you’ve identified the areas in need of spiritual healing, declare your faith and intention to restore the mind-body-spirit connection so that you can be healed because you have the power!
