Complimenting is truly an art form. It seems in today’s society, a compliment is few and far between. However, regarding negative feedback, this is not the case. Many people are completely open with putting other’s down, doubting one’s abilities and not being a good support system. These negative people are not just strangers but coworkers, friends, and even in some cases family. These people, full of negative energy will not spare moment to put you down. With many people’s self esteem in a fragile place as it is, these comments can push us to an edge of self-doubt.

I have heard this popular contemporary saying, “God does not make junk.” Each of God’s creations is nothing short of a masterpiece. We all fall into that category but do we know our full potential? We must affirm to ourselves: We have a right to be here!

Have you ever wanted to try a new hobby, explore a new career path, or try something new? Have your ideas or your shared thoughts been quashed by a mean-spirited person? Many of us have, and due to the put downs of another, some of us have refused to dream any longer.

Affirm your right to be here. You have every right to dream big, and to strive for success in every part of your life. Make a clear concise action plan to reach your goals. Only those with constructive criticism are allowed! There is a big difference between a kind person offering concern or genuine advice to improve your path and those who just want to hurt and control. If you feel you have been too judgmental to others, remember this from motivational speaker Wayne Dyer:

“When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.”

Often times those who are judging another are pointing out flaws they see in others, when truly they see much bigger flaws in themselves. By turning on others, negative people believe they are hiding their own flaws.

Socially, we should be nurturing and encouraging the betterment of each other. Everyone has a right to be on this Earth.. Keep your faith and move forward, no matter what the boundaries. Those who put others down are suffering a deeper fate then we will ever imagine: loneliness. With confidence and your personal affirmation in yourself, you will never be alone.
