In “Praying God’s Word: Breaking Free From Spiritual Strongholds,” Beth Moore outlines a plan for overcoming debilitating strongholds (aka limiting and destructive thoughts) by literally speaking God’s word in prayer.

Ephesians 6: 10-18 identifies the armor of God and encourages us to protect ourselves by “putting on” the full complement of armor. Two weapons of spiritual warfare are identified: the sword of the spirit (Word of God) and, in the next verse, prayer in all occasions.

The idea is simple but oh so powerful. Identify passages in the Bible that speak specifically to who you are as a divinely authored spiritual being having an “earthly” experience and recite those affirming words in active prayer. Below are some passages to get you started on your prayer-filled journey as you AFFIRM your worth … by the Spirit and SHINE!

Psalm 139: 13-14 “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”

1 Samuel 16: 7b “For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

Isaiah 43: 4 “Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you  …”

Genesis 1: 27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

Ephesians 2: 10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Romans 8: 31b “If God is for [me], who can be against [me]?”

  1. Well said Tonya!
We can not successfully and efficiently occupy enemy territory without “putting on” and using,
“the full Armour of God”. Two weapons we are to use constantly are Prayer and The Word.
I have heard it said this way: “Prayer sights the enemy, The Word fights the enemy.”

May God continue to Richly bless your life and impart to you His Love and Wisdom from on high.
