With today being Valentine’s Day, a day when so much love energy is flowing, I thought it was important to remind you to take some time to Love Yourself Today.
So many times we look to and express our love outwardly towards others that we can overlook and/or “shortchange” the love that we direct towards ourselves. On a day that we are filling up the “love tanks” of others and our relationships, take some time to fill up your “love tank” and Love Yourself Today.

As I thought about the importance of loving ourselves, I thought about Mark 12:30 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” While reading this scripture, I thought about when Jesus said, “the Father and I are one” (John 10:30).  The combination of these scriptures increased my belief in the importance of loving ourselves…for as we love ourselves we love the God within us.

As we are being led to Love by the Spirit, I encourage you to take some time each day to be still and/or look in the mirror and ask yourself,

“How can I love you today?”

When you receive the answer, be sure to honor yourself and the God within. The more you listen to and honor yourself, the more the God within you will speak to you, and the clearer you will hear that “still small voice”.  Remember as we take the time to listen to and love ourselves, our “love tanks” will begin to overflow and flow into the lives of others.  Also as we love ourselves, we are better able to show others how to love us.  So, on this day, I encourage you to take some time and Love Yourself Today.

God Bless and continue to Live By The Spirit!

  1. Great way to set the intention of being love, loving, and loved on this day. God is love. We are made in God’s image, a full expression of divine love. What we choose to do with that gift begins with us! My prayer is that I see love through God’s eyes rather than my own humanness. Selah … Amen.

  2. There may be truth in your post. Yet as I consider who I am, I find something curious. It’s not me who has the strength to love me. The strength to love me comes from His loving eyes. I hate the man I am. But this hate comes from seeing who He is. We desire to become like Him. And this desire is fanned into flame.

Perhaps it’s the sober judgment of my “self” that limits a certain love. I am a servant of the Most High God through the sacrifice of Jesus. And as I fulfill His will, then I find an ocassion to love myself. If there is, and in this life there will always be, a trace of self left, I hate my self. As there is God within me, I find His love. May He increase, and I decrease.

    By His Grace.
