December 31, 2010

The butterfly symbolizes many things. One of the reasons we selected the butterfly to represent is because of a butterfly’s symbolism for transformation, process, new beginnings, new life and re-birth. We believe that when our authentic inner being connects with divine Spirit, we return to the love of which we are created – God; and we are Re-born, again … for the first time into love and light and perfect peace.

The Monarch butterfly is often released at grave sites during memorial services to edify those present with feelings of peace and serenity at the “end of physical life” transition. They are also released at celebratory events, including graduations, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, weddings and other “transformative” events. And I can imagine a Monarch Butterfly release on New Year’s Eve can be a powerful ceremony to memorialize another year’s passing and to celebrate the beginning of a new year!

[More on the Monarch Butterfly Release]

Even if you don’t have any actual Monarch butterflies to release this December 31st, consider having your own celebration, let’s call it a BTS™ Butterfly Release Ceremony! Make a list of all of the people, events, actions, thoughts, beliefs, situations and things you want to memorialize and lay to rest, those you wish to celebrate and those you wish to claim in the new year. Then use this butterfly template to write down these things on the butterfly wings and … RELEASE them. Drop them one by one into your fireplace if you have one or a vase, a bowl, a bag or other container. Maybe even keep them in a gift box and open them up next year this time to see what you successfully let go of and what you created … and, perhaps, what you held on to that needs to be RELEASED again!

Have fun in creating your very own ceremony and celebration. Remember, reflect and RELEASE today. Leave 2010 in 2010. Transform yourself in this moment into the bright light that God created you to be, the one who glows brilliantly – unaffected by doubt, lack and limitation. The one God created when you were created in His omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient image. The one who SHINES!

Instead of wishing someone Happy New Year, wish them a Happy Release Day! Please share your 2010 plans to RELEASE with me and our readers and let me know if you hold your own BTS™ Butterfly Release Ceremony!
