“One single grateful thought raised to heaven is the most perfect prayer.” —  G.E. Lessing

girl praying outsideThe name of today’s holiday says it all! Tis’ the season to be thankful. However, with hyper-consumerism and family dis-functions of all kinds often kicking into overdrive during the holidays, it is easy to be distracted from the powerful intention and spirituality of Thanksgiving. So I encourage you to take 5 minutes today to be still and quiet. And with heart-felt gratitude commune with Spirit and say thank you for the abundance in your life – both the “seen” and the “unseen”. I say “unseen” because in the same way that a seed when first planted grows beneath the surface long before the seedling breaks ground and emerges from the soil, abundance exists right now just beneath the surface in your life even if you cannot “see” it in its fully manifested form.

God is all-knowing, all-powerful and ever-present. That alone is worth shouting about! God is love and we were perfectly made in the image and likeness of God. Therefore, we are love. And we are loved. So today give thanks. Turn complaints into compliments and criticism into encouragement. Right where you are, regardless of your life circumstance thank God for what He’s bringing you through and what He’s leading you to. Allow the spirit of lack to decrease so that the Spirit of God can increase in your life and literally move mountains.

And, today simply acknowledge that even if – and especially if – you are unsure of the direction of your life that you are grateful that God travels with you. Thank the Creator for an abundant life and for the abundant life lessons along the way. And remember, raising one single grateful thought to heaven is still “the most perfect prayer.”
