If I said I had $10,000 to give away right now many people’s interest may peak.  If I said that I was willing to part with this $10,000 with no questions asked and no strings attached just because I had it to give and wanted someone to have it, more interest may flood in as folks scramble to find out how they can get their hands on such a windfall. But there are some, maybe even you, who would ask the question: ‘What’s the catch?”

There is no catch.

Every day the Universe gives us windfalls of equal or greater abundance in our lives.  But we either miss them, misperceive them, or out of our own fear and discomfort with abundance, we turn it away.  But you say “I’d never turn away free money!” But what if that $10,000 came in a dirty, sticky box with all kinds of gross stuff stuck to the outside? What if at first you didn’t know this awful-looking package had such a gift inside?  But I came along and told you to take it, and if you were willing to clean it off and open it up a great gift was inside.  Would you hesitate at first? Would you try to check out the dimensions of the box to suppose what could possibly be inside and if it was worth getting dirty? What if the $10,000 was in a very high tree, or through a very thick and dark wood? Would it change your motivation to go after it?

A dirty box, a high tree or a thick wood may not keep you from a chance to have a quick bounty, but every day we are faced with lesser or equally availing questions in respect to our goals, dreams and desires.  For some of us it’s the career vs. the job that would offer more money and more fulfillment, but we must attend two or more years of schooling. Or maybe it’s better health and healing from a chronic disease if simply and consistently change our intake of certain types of foods. Our goals, dreams and health are more valuable than a mere $10,000…they are priceless!  But in small and sometimes overt ways, we say “no” with our actions and at times very literally with our words to the very things that would reap our greatest reward.

One of the definitions of reap is: “To obtain a return or reward.”  In this use the implied action is that in order to “obtain” one is in the process or act of receiving, taking or…accepting the return or reward.

Today I pose the challenge for us to think of how we may have been saying “no” to opportunity that has the potential to reward us.  Do not fear the dirt, supposed difficulty (which many times is an illusion anyway), time commitment or seeming sacrifice. Just as well, do not fear the ease, the abundance or the frequency with which reward can appear. Remember, when Spirit is providing blessings from what you have Reaped…there is no catch.

Challenge yourself this week to find every opportunity to say “yes” to an opportunity. When you feel hesitance pay attention as to whether it is fear of the unknown that is keeping you from making an effort or exploring further.  Let’s continue/begin the process of receiving more reward and returns in our lives starting with saying “Yes!”
