Well, the same holds true for the experience of love – you must love yourself first before you are capable of fully loving others.

But often we seek the love and acceptance of others before we feel capable (or worthy?) of loving and receiving love. Unfortunately, seeking the love and acceptance we feel we lack is putting the spiritual cart before the horse. It is also outside the divine order of the flow of God’s love into and through you … by way of the indwelling Spirit.

God is love. Love is inside of us. We are made in God’s image and possess God’s essence – LOVE. Humans are, well … human, but made divine by our connection to God and each other by love. Marianne Williamson describes it this way:

“Love is our fuel. It gives grace to progress and blessing to our will for power. We fail in our deepest responsibility to God and to ourselves each time we fail to declare love and act on love and witness to love.” Marianne Williamson, A Woman’s Worth (p. 93)

To “find your own shine,” — as my signature poem says — look inside. Then declare love, act on love and witness love … first in yourself, then in others.

Go forth and SHINE, from the inside out!
