Move Your SELF Up to #1 on Your To-Do List

This month is all about finding ways to rejuvenate yourself; mind, body and spirit! But in order to do that you have to actually value being healthy, happy, cared for, loved and whole. And more than value, you have to believe you deserve it and know that it’s possible to achieve in your present circumstances.

Intellectually we know being loved and cared for is what we should aspire to achieve. But if we do not require the best for ourselves or give ourselves the love and care we need, how can we teach, encourage and require that others do so? And, if others do not encourage and inspire your greatness or … worse yet … drain your vital energy and enthusiasm on a regular basis, it is challenging to be anything other than discouraged and drained. Not a very good reflection of the infinite power and greatness of God’s light, love and abundance, is it?

Selah … pause and think on that.

So to set the tone and intention and prepare the “space” for new lessons, insights, understandings and growth, in today’s post I offer some ways to take a “vacation” this month whether you are physically getting away or not. And for those who immediately thought, “sounds nice but I don’t have the time …” Think again. Ah, this mythical, magical, confounding human-made construct known as time (see #4!)

  1. Move your SELF up to the #1 spot on your To-Do list
  2. Watch Jessica’s Daily Affirmation (50 of the best seconds you’ll ever spend)
  3. Begin and end each day with a 5 minute meditation and include 10 minutes of journaling every day.
  4. Listen to this Zencast audio about “Time — #263” [What exists in the world is impermanent so time (which does not actually exist) cannot be eternal. Time is a human construct. Changing events give us a sense of time. But when we do not relate to a particular event or series of events – when we take a vacation – we “lose track of (READ: the need to track) time.]
  5. Read a Proverb everyday (there are 31 of them).
  6. Read The G.R.E.A.T.E.S.T. by Dr. Kathleen E. Walls to reconnect with who you are and whose you are! The book is like a spiritual chiropractor? The G.R.E.A.T.E.S.T.   7. Make a spa appointment for a massage … and keep it! Benefits of massage (physical, mental and spiritual!)
  8. Do your exercise without your iPod and listen to the sounds of nature, silence and life!
  9. Read the ByTheSpirit.net blog everyday
  10. Repeat #1!
