The other day I was deep in thought. About what, I honestly don’t know. But a friend nudged me and said “Hey, get out of your head!”  And I had to laugh. She was right. I have no idea what I was thinking about, but I had obviously detached myself from the moment, so much so that I was unaware of my surroundings.  I had stopped observing, stopped listening, stopped being aware. I wondered how many times I had done that throughout the day. How often I do that in life.  It’s true that our inner voice is a powerful influence in our lives, and I will continue to support the practice of listening to that voice on the path to our fullest potential. But let’s not get so wrapped up on going in, that we forget the joy of living and breathing and experiencing life.  Our inner voice should be the cheerleader of life, the inspiration for experiencing life, putting our hands and hearts and whole selves in it so to speak.

This past year was a year that I needed to go more inward. I needed to reevaluate and recharge and renew and any other redoing that needed to be done, I was doing it.  But this year…this year I want to live out loud…actively, intentionally.  I want to get out of my head and into my life. And since I’ve got this powerful inner voice, I’d love to use it to SPEAK my truth and pray prayers of encouragement and do more with all of that good energy!  Don’t you?!

So I hope you don’t mind if I share a bit of this energy with you this year.  And the truth is, every once in a while we’ll have to go into our thoughts, listen to our inner voice and regain our balance and focus.  But I do hope that as we learn to balance and reflect, that we also use it to express our boldness and ultimately live fuller, active lives.

Ready, set, let’s get out!
