Marianne Williamson recently posted the following update on her FaceBook page:

“We can’t just fight all the darkness on the planet. We have to TURN ON MORE LIGHTS. Then darkness will be no more.”

I believe the same holds true for the darkness within. To overcome darkness we need not fight it but shine God’s light within us on the deceptive feelings of “less than, not enough, or undeserving” that tell us we are not worthy of God’s infinite abundance. Only then can we embrace the truth that Divine love is always available to each one of us at any time. Only then can darkness be no more.

In my last post, I encouraged you to flip on the switch of your life and ACTIVATE SPIRIT within to let go of the old way to embrace something new. Now that you’ve flipped on the switch and illuminated the true state of affairs in the proverbial rooms of your mind, body and soul, you may have noticed that the bright light of truth is actually not as exhilarating as you had hoped. Authenticity’s blinding light has a funny way of allowing you to see more clearly all of the doubts, fears, spirit injuries, actions, missed opportunities and faulty beliefs in your past that (im)patiently waited for you to return. And guess what? Some of it might not be too pretty; or worse yet, downright frightening.

In fact, that scary reality may have been the reason you allowed the “light” to go out in the first place. I call it the “ostrich mentality.” You know, when you bury your head in the sand and hope all of your issues will somehow disappear on their own, especially if you’ve tried to overcome real and imagined obstacles before without much success.

But if at first you don’t succeed … I encourage you to SHINE, SHINE again!

This week I invite you to take another look at all your stuff; the good, the bad and the downright dreadful.  And accept this essential truth: anything that is contrary to your true identity as a wonderfully beautiful and blessed child of the Creator — the One in whose image you were created — is to be flatly rejected as the lie and illusion that it is. This may not be an easy task, but is definitely simple. Break through the dark clouds of denial and remember that as I say in my poem A Villager Speaks, until you take your last breath you will always have time to return to your place of origin and begin again.

Philippians 4:8 says “whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” And Lesson 28 of A Course in Miracles says “Above all else I want to see things differently.” Choose to see things differently today. Choose to focus only on the thoughts and emotions that edify you today. Choose to ACTIVATE SPIRIT in your life and SHINE.

I invite you to enter a comment about this post and let me know how you are shining or in what ways this post has encouraged you.

  1. Tonya–thank you for this post.

This resonated the most with me: “And accept this essential truth: anything that is contrary to your true identity as a wonderfully beautiful and blessed child of the Creator — the One in whose image you were created — is to be flatly rejected as the lie and illusion that it is.”

Also, great poem, Village Speaks, but I explored the others and will buy all soon. “see, it is a sin to waste valuable energy…a bird that has wings doesn’t need anyone to tell it when to fly.” Wow.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

    • Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and supporting this spiritually lead project. I look forward to continuing on this journey of enlightenment with you. You’re already shining! — Peace & Love, Tonya

  2. This beautiful and brilliantly written, especially at a time GOD is doing BIG things in my life. And I always thought I had a healthy sense of self-esteem…Satan tries to dupe me with thoughts of fear and self-doubt. But I know I am perfectly made and a light of Christ in this world. And GOD does not create a light to hide it but puts it on a stand for all the world to see and give glory to HIM. (Matthew 5, Luke 8)
