SHARE: Prosper By The Spirit — “We are rare, not perfect.” from Mark Nepo

In today’s SHARE, the Mark Nepo quote reminds us that PROSPERING does not require perfection; but surrender to the perfection of our imperfection.

We PROSPER when we embrace the beauty of who we are today rather than the idea or ideal of who we think we should be tomorrow (a day that may never come). “Be here now” and PROSPER where you are planted. Tomorrow will take care of itself.

“With our hands full of groceries, our heads full of things to do, our hearts full of memories, and our dreams full of plans, we tend to think if we could only get away or finish crossing off the things on that list, if we could only undo what has been done or do what needs to be done, we might then live more completely, more perfectly. But we are human beings, flawed colorful beings that eat plans and memories for food.

“We are in moments pure and ageless as light, and with the very next breath, we drop things or bruise the treasures of a lifetime. We need to soothe ourselves, not blame ourselves. We are rare, not perfect, and seem destined to know all there is briefly, only to pound it into bread.”

Mark Nepo, The Book of Awakening (9/30 entry)

Giving women education, work, the ability to control their own income, inherit and own property, benefits the society. If a woman is empowered, her children and her family will be better off. If families prosper, the village prospers, and eventually so does the whole country.” (Isabel Allende)

“Fear is a natural reaction to moving closer to the truth.” Pema Chodron, When Things Fall Apart

The Course in Miracles teaches that there are only two forces in existence; fear and love. And only love is real.

Marianne Williamson, spiritual teacher and author of A Return to Love, offers this definition of fear:

Fear is our shared lovelessness, our individual and collective hells. It’s a world that seems to press on us from within and without, giving constant false testimony to the meaninglessness of love. When fear is expressed, we recognize it as anger, abuse, disease, pain, greed, addiction, selfishness, obsession, corruption, violence, and war. [p. xxiv]

Then, Marianne makes clear that “Love is within us. It cannot be destroyed, but can only be hidden.”

Love is hidden by fear. Fear is a lie; love is the truth.

“The best way to say, ‘I love you God,’ is to live your life doing your best.”~ don Miguel Ruiz ~

I dedicate this post to one of my closest and dearest sisterfriends, Barbra, who is a thriving survivor of an advanced form of breast cancer.  Everyday Barb reminds me what it means to live an inspired, courageous life in full view.

One year ago yesterday on September 7, 2011, she was diagnosed. Ever since then she’s lived her life “out loud” as “Pink Ink” at inkwellchicks.com and through various other local and national advocacy outlets like KomenPhoenix.org.

Through these channels she invites God to use her “life in the cancer lane” as a testimony to encourage others to survive, to thrive and to PROSPER. She uses her light to illumine the paths of others to be informed, proactive and involved. She SHINES!

She uses her life everyday to say “I Love You, God.” And so even in the midst of the tumultuous ups and downs of relationships, surgeries, chemo, radiation and uncertainty she PROSPERS.

Life’s big picture is sometimes so overwhelming, especially when we receive difficult news or are in the midst of a challenging time or circumstance. Sometimes awful things happen to amazing people.

“Things come together; things fall apart.” ~ Pema Chodron

In the midst of complexities and complications, hold fast to this essential truth: Life isn’t about doing everything only the next thing in the present moment. (more…)
