“There is one great truth on this planet: whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it’s because that desire originated in the soul of the universe. It’s your mission on earth… And when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” ~ Paulo Coelho from The Alchemist: A Fable About Following Your Dream

handlightThe spirit of this “one great truth” speaks to my soul and resonates deeply. Because the Creator promises to give us the desires of our heart and make our plans succeed when we align our plans and preparations with the divine. [see Psalm 20:4 and Psalm 37:4]

But the key to manifesting the desires of your heart lies in being clear about what those desires are. If you’re not clear, then your desire is for clarity. A desire without clarity is like having a car without gas. That desire is going nowhere fast, to be sure.

So in preparation for the New Year and the new YOU, seek clarity and alignment with your spiritual gifts and divine purpose. Allow spirit to be the fuel that moves you closer to your dreams. And then leave the details of how, who, what, when and why to the Creator. God’s got this!

Love & light,

Tonya

Remember when there were 364 more days left in the year? Yeah, well that was about 362 days ago. Now, with only three days left in 2012 (thank goodness!!) the holiday dust in the Thanksgiving-to-New Year holiday stretch is quickly beginning to settle.

If you are like most people, you’ve just started to catch your breath from the holiday fervor and to focus on how your year is ending and how you intend to bring in the New Year.

Perhaps you’re starting to reflect on all the things you did and didn’t do (good, bad and otherwise), the places you did and didn’t go and the things you did and didn’t say.

Have you ever experienced the kindness of a total stranger? Whether it is a door held open for you as you juggle groceries or come home to a nice home cooked meal to your spouse, a kind gesture goes a long way. But why should the kind gesture stop with you? We must pay this gesture forward as the movie “PAY IT FORWARD” emphasized.

“In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

To “pay it forward” is when you receive a kind gesture and you extend a kind gesture or “pay it forward” to another person. A simple example would be when someone opens the door for you and then you open the door for another person.

When one is experiencing hard times, even the simplest kind gesture can be the biggest encouragement. If we do not “pay it forward”, a kind gesture is missed by someone who definitely could have used it.

We have to take a second to think of how we can truly pay it forward to another person. In these times especially, it can be as simple as paying a compliment forward to helping someone. This can be the CHANGE a person needs in their life. Compliments can be the fuel for someone to get out of a rut and CHANGE their life.

“In many ways, not knowing what the future has in store brings out in us the qualities we need to grow. For example, it would have been difficult to commit yourself to certain people or projects if you knew they wouldn’t ultimately work out. Yet, it was through your commitment to see them through that you experienced the lessons you needed to grow. Looking back on your life, you would likely be hard pressed to say that anything in your past should not have happened. In fact, your most challenging experiences with their inevitable lessons may have ultimately brought you the greatest rewards. Not knowing the future keeps us just where we need to be—fully committed and in the present moment.” ~ Madisyn Taylor ~

Ever wondered why you aren’t shown the truth about the purpose or final result of any given experience on your spiritual journey?

Someone comes into your life and you want to know with certainty they are “the one” and how it will all work out, for example. Or you want clarity on why tragedy strikes, or why you suffered disappointment or loss in some way, or why all that seemed so certain completely unravels leaving you confounded, confused and — worse still — vulnerable.

We crave a sense of control — even if it’s false — to feel like we are on sure footing with a clear plan and path from point A to point B. But our plans, grounded in our human-ness, never include all the information. They can’t. Yes, we have free will but we are a creation, created based on a “higher”, divinely inspired plan. So the point of it all, perhaps, is to constantly (re)align our will with the Divine. We do so in the present moment, the “NOW”.

Still, we press to know the point and the truth of this great mystery called life. But God presents to us only what we need when we need it and, on our best day we only “see through the glass darkly.” Why, you ask? Because, after all, you’re probably still seeking clarity. Well, it can be summed up with the following quote from Jack Nicholson’s character in A Few Good Men:

“You can’t handle the truth!!!”  (more…)

Patience is the Fastest Way to Spiritual Growth

Patience has allowed me to take one step at a time, never stretching beyond the next logical step and trusting in Divine timing that EVERYTHING is going to work out for the best. ~ Mastin Kipp, TheDailyLove.com

One of the most essential and valuable gifts we can ever GIVE to ourselves is time.

Clock

Time to get over, under, around or through the inevitable challenges of life.  Time to reflect. Time to learn the lessons. Time to receive the blessings. Time to prepare, strengthen and mature so the next time we face challenges (and we will, it’s called life!) we “know better” and have the opportunity to “do better”, as Oprah Winfrey and Maya Angelou say.

“Time” doesn’t mean forever. There’s no particular equation to figure out how long it takes to recover, to heal, to mature or to transform. In fact, some of my greatest transformations and most significant lessons have happened relatively quickly in the scheme of things. Selah.

But growth is a process, and it’s cyclical. And our most authentic, transformative growth occurs in the context of divine timing. Because when God wants you to move (or doesn’t) you know it!

But because the Creator has a plan and a purpose for our lives that sometimes doesn’t look like the life we planned for ourselves (or, worse yet, that others planned), our perception of what should happen and when it should happen can be at odds with the Divine.

Of course free will allows us to choose “left” or “now” when God’s leading is “right” or “wait”. But God’s plan is always best. However, because we get to choose and therefore “co-create” with God, we have the power to rely on God’s way … or to go it alone. But guess what? God is the author and inventor of patience. God will wait. Because the lesson will be learned; it’s your divine assignment.

The best examples we have are in nature; the change of the seasons and the process of sowing and reaping. There is a season for everything and completing a season takes time. No matter how often you check the day, or week, or month after you plant an apple seed, you won’t be able to pick any apples, I assure you. This is true even though it is an apple seed’s divine nature to grow and to bear fruit. But the process of growth from seedling to mature tree that bears good fruit is divinely inspired and divinely timed. God’s will will be done in God’s own time.

So give yourself TIME. Time gives you space to breathe, to get still, to get clear. Time is often the best gift you can GIVE yourself. And as Mastin Kipp explains:

“Patience allows me to put my trust in the Divine and never make desperate short-term choices; be it for money or success or fame. Those things are not my concern. My concern is staying in an obedient state of active surrender to Divine will – showing up, but letting go.”
